The German MIB informed us that, as from 1 January 2012, Montenegro will be welcomed as an independent member of the Council of Bureaux. The Green Card is the required insurance document for cross-border traffic.

Montenegro will be added to countries listed on Green Cards. The country code for Montenegro is MNE. The transfer period, in which Green Cards are to be changed, is two years. This means that all Green Cards must have been corrected by 1 January 2014. Existing valid Green Cards not mentioning ‘Montenegro’ will be accepted in Montenegro until then, according to the German Bureau.

As from 1 January 2012, drivers from Montenegro must possess a Green Card drawn up in Montenegro when driving into other countries of the Green Card region.
